10/31(日)にプリンスでも開催されるハロウィンパーティー‼️

プリンスの先生たちは故郷ではどんなハロウィンを過ごしていたのか、聞いてみました！

☆Sean先生

For Halloween, my family and I always celebrated with a lot of scary decorations, carving pumpkins and trick or treating. About a week before halloween we would go to the pumpkin patch and me and my brothers would all try to find the best pumpkin. Then we would take it home and all carve spooky faces into them and put them outside with a candle in each. Then we would pick ourcostumes out and get them ready for trick or treating.

 On Halloween night, we would go out trick or treating with friends and bring back huge bags of candy that we would eat for the next couple of days. After trick or treating we would watch scary movies and eat candy. It was always so much fun.

ハロウィンの思い出と言えば、家族と一緒にたくさんの怖い飾りつけをしたことや、パンプキンをくりぬいたこと、そしてトリックオアトリート。ハロウィンの1週間くらい前になると、パンプキンパッチ（パンプキン狩り）に行って、兄弟と一緒にそれぞれ一番気に入ったかぼちゃを探しました。それぞれ選んだかぼちゃを家に持ち帰って、そこに怖い顔をくりぬき、中にキャンドルを入れて外に飾ります。また、トリックオアトリートのために、コスチュームを選んで準備もします。

ハロウィンの夜には友達と一緒にトリックオアトリートへ！トリックオアトリートでは大きなバッグいっぱいキャンディがもらえます。トリックオアトリートの後は、家に帰って、怖い映画を見たりもらったキャンディを食べたりしました。（キャンディはたくさんあるので、何日もかけて食べます。）とっても楽しかったです！

As a kid, Halloween was one of my favorite times of the year. In Michigan, where I’m from, the leaves change color around this time of year. In preparation for Halloween, my family and I went to the pumpkin patch and I could pick out the biggest pumpkin I could find. We brought it home and carved them into jack-o-lanterns. Sometimes I would make my pumpkin into a scary face, or a ghost, or black cat. At night, I would light the candles inside the pumpkin and put it on the porch. Other neighbors had their carved pumpkins decorated outside too.

子供のころ、毎年ハロウィンがとても楽しみでした。私が住んでいたミシガンでは、ハロウィンの頃には木々が色づき始めます。ハロウィンの準備の1つは、パンプキンパッチ（カボチャ狩り）です。家族と一緒に1番大きなかぼちゃを探して、それを家に持ち帰り、くり抜いてジャック・オ・ランタンを作るのです。怖い顔、オバケ、黒猫など、毎年色々な形にくり抜きました。夜になると、その中にキャンドルを入れて玄関前に飾ります。近所の人達も、同じようにそれぞれのジャック・オ・ランタンを飾っていました。

Some years, my parents bought a costume for me, and other years I would make one myself and put it together. I remember being a Mr. Potato Head, a vampire, cowboy, and a red power ranger! On Halloween evening when it starts to get dark, it’s trick-or-treat time! I got into my costume and grabbed the biggest pillowcase I could find to keep my candy in. For a few hours, I would visit as many houses in my neighborhood as I could, to collect candy! There were kids everywhere in all sorts of costumes running around.

ハロウィンの衣装は、両親に買ってもらったり自分で作ったりしました。ミスターポテトヘッドや吸血鬼、カウボーイ、それからレッドパワーレンジャーになったこともあります！ハロウィン当日は、暗くなってくるとトッリクオアトリートのはじまりです！衣装に着替え、キャンディを入れるための大きな枕カバーを持って出発です。２〜３時間、できるだけたくさんの家をまわってキャンディを集めます！色んな衣装を着た子供たちが、あちこち走り回っていました。

Some years, I collected enough candy to last a whole month! Candy bars, licorice, taffy, chocolate! I had a little bit of everything! I hope I can share some of the same Halloween excitement with all my students at Prince this time of year. Happy Halloween!

ハロウィンの後、食べるのに１ヶ月くらいかかるほどのお菓子をもらった年もありました！キャンディバー、リコリス、タフィー、チョコレートなど、全部ちょっとずつ楽しみました。ハロウィンのワクワク感を、生徒のみなさんと一緒に、プリンスで楽しめたらいいなと思います。

My brother and I—it was cold outside! Under my jacket was a cowboy costume. Next to me is two huge bowls of candy that my parents passed out to trick-or-treaters!

兄と一緒にー 外はすごく寒かった！ジャケットの下は、カウボーイの衣装です。隣にある大きな２つのボウルには、トリックオアトリートに来た子供たちにあげるキャンディが入っています。

When I was younger in England we would get dressed up and go around the neighborhood trick-or-treating and we would usually get candy, chocolate or even money sometimes.

Usually someone would have a Halloween party and we would eat lots of treats and play Halloween party games. At the end of the party we would usually take home a 'goodie bag' filled with treats and toys.

子供の頃に住んでいたイギリスでは、ハロウィンには仮装して近所でトリックオアトリートをしました。キャンディやチョコレートだけでなく、たまにですが、お金をもらったこともあります！

たいてい誰かがハロウィンパーティーを開くので、お菓子をたくさん食べたり、ハロウィンにちなんだゲームをしたりしました。パーティーの終わりには、お菓子やおもちゃが入ったお土産をもらいました！
