Home Alone is a movie I feel like watching every year in this season, Christmas.

The McCallister, a huge family in Chicago is busy packing for a trip in their Christmas vacation. In the midst of that chaos, Kevin starts fighting with his brother and ends up getting locked in the attic. The following day, the whole family oversleeps and is in a rush to get to the airport in time for the plane. They were in such a rush that they left poor Kevin behind. It’s hard to believe that a family would accidentally leave their kid behind on a vacation, but this is only the beginning…

When Kevin wakes up the next morning to find that his family is gone! He’s still mad at his parents for scolding him that he’s overjoyed about getting the house all to himself. However, two thieves, not knowing a little boy is left alone in the house, was planning to break into the house. And so, a series of mishap befall Kevin.

It’s fun to see what Kevin thinks up of to prevent the thieves from breaking in. Kevin uses various things in his house to protect his house. Kevin resists so much that halfway through the film, you can't tell whether it's Kevin or the thief who's having a mishap. And Kevin is just so cute as he gradually starts missing his family.

The comical descriptions are fantastic that you can’t stop laughing. At the same time, the bond of the McCallister family makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Please pay attention to how Christmas is in America and how it’s different from that of Japan!

今年もクリスマスの季節がやってきましたね。

この時期になると毎年見たくなるのが映画「ホーム・アローン」。

シカゴの大家族のマカリスター家が家族旅行に出る前の晩に準備に追われ家族みんながバタバタしている中、ケビンは兄と喧嘩してします。怒られたケビンは屋根裏部屋に閉じ込められます。そして、迎えた翌朝…。家族全員で大寝坊をしてしまい、慌てて空港に向かいなんとか飛行機に間に合います。しかし、なんとケビンは屋根裏部屋に閉じ込められたまま。

大家族とはいえ子どもを置いて旅行に出かけてしまうことなんてあるのかと思わずにはいられませんが、これは序章にすぎません！

目覚めたケビンは前日怒られたことを根に持っており、だれも家にいないことに気付くとケビンは大喜び！一方で、子ども一人が残されているとは知らず、旅行で留守にしているはずの家を二人のお泥棒が忍び寄ります…。そしていくつもの災難がケビンを襲います。

そんなハプニングにケビンがどう対処していくのかが見どころです。ケビンは家にあるさまざまなものを駆使して、泥棒から家を守るのです。途中から災難に遭っているのがケビンなのか泥棒なのかわからなくなるくらい、ケビンは抵抗します。ケビンの発想力や頭の柔軟さには舌をまいてしまいます。そして、次第に家族が恋しくなっていくケビンがとにかくかわいいです。

コミカルな描写で笑いが止まりません。そして、同時に家族の愛情にほっこりする映画です。アメリカのクリスマスの様子にも注目してみてください！
